Yesterday, Activision announced their earnings report for the last quarter. The publisher announced making $200 million profits on a $1 billion sales earnings. However, the real piece of video game news behind this announced is the possible hint of some new games dropped into the report.

Within all the technical talk, there were some hints that in the not too distant future we may see a new Spiderman, Bond, and Tony Hawks game. The president of Activision, Mike Griffth, did confirm the new James Bond game, however, he failed to mention the Spiderman and Tony Hawk games. Unfortunately, very little information has been announced about the game, just that it’s being made.

The current Bond game, released earlier this year, was published by Activision and it has been one of the best Bond based games to date. The game followed the storyline of both films Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace and allowed the player to play as Bond through both stories. That game was produced by Treyarch, the master minds behind a number of Call of Duty games, most likely why it managed to get so many positive video game ratings. However, bothing was mentioned about Treyarch being the makers for this new Bond game.

Nothing was also said about the storyline because currently there is now new bond film released. so really we have no idea where the storyline could go, it could be based entirely on a new story, a previously released film, or many even a prequel to a yet to be announced film.

As for the other games hinted at, there have been some rumours recently about a new Spiderman film, which would come with a game no doubt so that hint is looking promising. Finally, the Tony Hawks game, personally I don’t think so because with Tony Hawk: Ride being released in November, I reckon they won’t release another so quickly after Ride. However, you can never really tell, it’s just a waiting game now.

2009 is poised to become a big, big year for the Sony Playstation 3. 2. Final Fantasy XIV (2010, right after the release of FF XIII). Final Fantasy XI was the first MMORPG of the Final Fantasy franchise. It was released 7 years ago, and up to this writing, it still boasts of more than 2 million active subscribers - a number that is envied by newly released and more technologically advanced MMOPRGs today. The next MMORPG for the franchise is scheduled to be released in 2010. Final Fantasy XIV Online, as of this time, is pegged as a Sony Playstation3 exclusive.

3. Heavy Rain. This PS3 game really shows off the technical power of the Playstation 3, with some of the most impressive graphics ever seen in a video game. It’s a story-driven game that puts you in the shoes of a detective investigating a mystery that has ramifications for all existence. Devil May Cry 3, is the second sequel to the popular video game. It was released in 2005 by Capcom after heavy criticism for the first sequel. Let’s take a closer look at this video game.

The original game was very popular. The sequel wasn’t so popular. So when Capcom made the Devil May Cry 3 they returned to many of the elements that made the first video game such a success. It was harder, and had a completely revamped fighting engine along with huge 3D worlds. It sold about 1,300,000 copies around the world. It was considered a financial success. Game Informer called it one of the top video games of 2005. It had one of the best fight systems in the video game world. It was released for both the PS2 and PC.

The main character of the Devil May Cry 3, Dante is attacked by demons sent by his brother Vergil. When Dante defeats these creatures, a giant tower erupts out of the ground near his shop. Dante realizes his brother is behind this. He then enters the tower fighting various demons and monsters whose life energy transforms into weapons after he defeats them. Each weapon helps with the next level.

But in the course of fighting through the tower and battling his brother, Dante learns that a man named Arkham is manipulating them in order to reactivate the tower, steal a powerful sword from the demon world, and use it to rule over the earth. Dante and Vergil eventually defeat the Arkham, then fight over the powerful sword, called the Force Edge. Dante wins the sword, and his brother chooses to stay behind in the demon world.

It’s not much of a plot, but it drives the game action which is based on levels each of which has a boss. In general the levels become more difficult. In the original game, made for Japan, hard was the highest level. Capcom made the decision to convert this into the normal mode in the North American release. That meant that the hard mode in North America was even more difficult, considered by many to be too hard. People who liked the game still disliked this nearly impossible play level.

This shows the difficulty of making video games. The first sequel had been criticized for being too easy. Capcom adjusted by increasing the difficulty of Devil May Cry 3 only to have that one criticized for being too difficult. If a game developer could flap his arms and fly, people would wonder why he couldn’t pass through airport security.

By now Devil May Cry 3 is quite dated. But in its time it was a fun game that many people played.
